Step Afrika! and the U.S. Embassy of Zagreb are excited to present the Step Afrika! International Youth Exchange (SAIYE) in Zagreb, Croatia. A new initiative this year, Step Afrika! will take 10 high school students from Washington, DC to participate in a week-long international youth camp with European students of similar ages. For the past four years, Step Afrika! has developed a great connection with its students in Croatia and the Company is excited to share this with students from our home city, Washington, DC.
How much does the program cost?
The program costs $4,700 per student. This includes flights, passports, meals, and travel insurance. U.S. Embassy of Zagreb will provide shared housing and local transportation in Croatia for the students.
A $250 deposit is due with the application. Once accepted into the program, it goes toward the total and all payments are non-refundable.
What will the students gain from this experience?
The students will participate in a 6-day program with 100 students from Croatia and surrounding European countries. The students will learn the art of stepping, develop creativity, enhance communication skills, and improve physical coordination. The camp will also help them build self-confidence, develop cultural pride, and improved tolerance by working, learning, and engaging with other students of various backgrounds. Travelling with Step Afrika! will also allow the students to build relationships with the professional dancers, who serve as ideal role models and mentors for high school students.
After the application is received, you and your child will be contacted to schedule an in-person interview with Step Afrika! After the interview, you will be notified of your acceptance into the program.
