2010-11 Winners Step Afrika! congratulates our inaugural scholarship winners...

   

Joseph Daniels

School: North Caroline A & T State University
Major: Civil Engineering
GPA: 4:00

After graduation, Joseph plans to attend graduate school to further his education in civil engineering with a focus on structures. He wants to use his education to focus on the infrastructure of US bridges.

He believes he can make the greatest impact on the world through his leadership abilities. Joseph wants to be a positive example for those who come behind him.

   

Janae Frazier

School: Elon University
Major: Broadcast Journalism Minor: Dance
GPA: 3.26

After graduation, Jane plans to work at a local news station as a reporter. She wants to focus on inspirational stories that uplift the human spirit and investigative stories that help uncover the world's injustices.

She believes she can make the greatest impact on the world through dance. Janae is currently the liturgical choreographer of a Christian dance company and plans to open her own company in the future.

   

Evelyn Gathura

School: Lehigh University
Major: Global Studies Minor: Biology (Pre-Med)
GPA: 3.54

After graduation, Evelyn (Eva) plans to study in a dual degree program obtaining a Master's in Public Health and a Doctorate in Preventative Medicine. She plans to focus on public health issues in her homeland - Africa.

She believes she can make the greatest impact on the world by helping to improve the health and well-being of African people. Eva wants to be a resource that educates her countrymen on preventative measures.

   

Amanda Rambo

School: University of Kentucky
Major: Arts Administration Minor: Art History
GPA: 4.00

After graduation, Amanda plans pursue a career as an Arts Administrator in a major city - preferably New York or Washington, DC. She plans to give individuals an opportunity to expand their worldview through exposure to the arts.

She believes she can make the greatest impact on the world through arts education. Amanda believes that by impacting one person at a time; the arts can change lives.
