For nearly three decades Step Afrika! has connected past, present, and future generations through the tradition of stepping, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Based in Washington, DC, Step Afrika! has increased its presence in the lives of youth in the DMV area. With a strong presence in local schools, we have fostered life skills that have improved students’ performance in the classroom and widened their opportunities. We have built a community of young people who know they are interconnected with everyone around them and understand the value of working together.

The Step Afrika! performers’ passion for preserving this traditional art form and stories told through movement bounces through the halls of schools nationwide. Beyond impressive and percussive dances, our arts education programs teach young students the value of teamwork, commitment, discipline, and academic achievement.
