Step Afrika!’s 2018/2019 season kicks off with our energetic and exciting annual
Step Xplosion tour of all 8 Wards! This FREE tour includes performances and workshops for all ages!

Ward 2: August 11, 2018 at 6pm at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, 2700 F St. NW
Participants of Summer Steps with Step Afrika! worked hard all week to showcase their talents at this culminating performance.


Ward 3: August 15, 2018 at 12:30pm at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 3001 Wisconsin Ave NW
Step Afrika!’s workshop for the aging community! Adults who are 60 or better will learn to STEP and use their body as an instrument. This is not a performance and no experience is necessary.


Ward 1August 16, 2018 at 4:30pm at Mt. Pleasant Library, 3160 16th St NW
Step Afrika! Reads – A 35-minute program for PreK-2nd grade students that combines reading, exercise and creative movement.


Ward 4: August 18, 2018 at 2pm at Raymond Recreation Center, 3725 10th St NW
Stepping with Step Afrika! – An interactive performance that highlights the rhythm, physicality and history of stepping. An experience for all ages!


Ward 6: August 19, 2018 at 4pm at District Pier at The Wharf, 1100 Maine Ave SW
Dance with Step Afrika! on The Wharf!
This is not a performance, but a dance party to latest and most popular party songs!


Ward 5: August 21, 2018 at 6:30pm at Dance Place, 3225 8th St NE
Participate in a workshop and STEP with Step Afrika!
This is not a performance, but a chance to learn choreography with fellow participants.
No experience necessary. 


Ward 8: August 22, 2018 at 6:30pm at THEARC, 1901 Mississippi Ave SE
Enjoy a feature-length, interactive performance by Step Afrika!


Ward 7: August 25, 2018 at 5pm at Kingman and Heritage Islands, Oklahoma Ave & Benning Rd NE
Culminating outdoor festival featuring Step Afrika! and some of the best talent from the DMV!
